Tips on Buying the right rug pad
Signs to look for if a store is selling precut and prepacked rug pads:
There are a limited number of sizes and shapes available
• The rug pad description states that the pad is "easy to cut with scissors
(cutting a rug pad in your home, particulary a solid one, is not an easy task!)

Why it is best to avoid precut and prepackaged rug pads:
• Traditionally, the better quality rug pads are not offered in packages, but on rolls
• Severe fold marks can cause bumps in your rug, defects in the rug pad and premature wear to your rug (imagine a 9'x12' rug pad stuffed in a 2'x2' plastic bag - this can create several fold lines!

Tip 2: Natural rubber is safe for all floors!

A misconception is that rubber sticks to floors. This is not true. The waffle looking rug pads with holes in them are usually made of plastic, nylon or polyester. These are then sprayed with an adhesive and this is what transfers to floors and can cause damage. Since this type of rug pad looks like rubber, many people think it is.
• If it is a non slip rug pad you need, our Durahold contains a felt and natural rubber. Be careful to make sure the backing is a natural rubber and not a spray latex or "synthetic" rubber.
Why rubber is best in a non slip rug pad:
• Natural rubber does not stick to floors
• The "rubber like" waffle pads contain an adhesive and this is what sticks to, and damages, floors

Tip 3: Try to buy from a store that ships directly from their own warehouse!

Many stores use a drop ship system. This means that your order is sent to an independent warehouse not affiliated with the store. That warehouse then pulls the package from their shelf and ships to you. The original store never even sees or feels the rug pad.
At Best Rug Pads, we touch every order we ship:
• Since we cut your order right from the roll, our staff personally cuts, packs and ships your order right from our own warehouse. We have total control of every order.

Tip 4: Have the store cut the rug pad to your exact rug size!

Your rug pad should be cut about an inch less on all sides than your rug size. This allows for the edges of your rug to relax to the floor, prevents wear to them and prevents any trip hazards.

How to know if your rug needs a non slip rug pad:
• If your rug is small, a hallway runner or in a room with lots of traffic and nothing holding it down, you need a non slip rug pad
• If your rug is a room size rug, especially one with furniture on it, then you generally do not need a non slip rug pad.
